Abstract
Purpose: Conventional method of mesh management during laparoscopic ventral hernia repair is somewhat difficult and time consuming. Scroll technique is a new technique for mesh management. It is the easier and faster way to manage mesh. This study is performed to understand the usefulness of scroll techniques.

Methods: Between February 2007 and July 2013, 125 cases of laparoscopic ventral hernia repairs were done by a single surgeon. Data was collected through electric medical record system from the hospital. All data is analyzed retrospectively.

Results: During the study period, 125 cases of laparoscopic ventral hernia were performed. Among them, the study group contained 107 cases with single hernia. Conventional methods from 10 cases and scroll techniques from 97 cases were then compared. The most frequent hernia in males was the umbilical hernia and in females was incisional hernia. Average operation time of conventional method was 160.0 minutes. Average operation time of scroll technique was 127.9 minutes. Scroll technique had shorter operations than the conventional method (P=0.031). Operation time with tack and without tack was also compared. Average operation time with tack was 123.9 minutes and without tack was 201.0 minutes. Operation time with tack was shorter than without tack (P£¼0.001).

Conclusion: Scroll techniques are effective, easy methods for intraperitoneal management of mesh during laparoscopic ventral hernia repair.
